A couple of quick-thoughts about the Ravens 4th Preseason game tonight, against Atlanta.
1) All I could think about all night, is please no injuries to any starters that matter.
2) Suggs showed how meaningless the Preseason is for established vets.
3) Beck played well enough for the Ravens to be fully confident using Troy Smith in the ‘Suggs’ package.
4) Cook is only the 2nd Full-back listed on the roster. As such, he had a chance to make the final roster no matter what. If his TD tonight was indication of his ability to catch the ball out of the back-field, he can probably make the team as the 5th RB/FB.
4a) That RB/FB situation is the 3 givens of Rice, McGahee, McClain, and in my mind Peerman. Parmalee, and Lawrence have both looked good, but do not have Peerman’s speed. If the Ravens feel they can hide Peerman with an ‘injury’, or on the Practice Squad, maybe they do that.
5) Demetrius Williams has had a strong-game, too bad it was with Beck and not Flacco.
6) Harper should have had that long-pass down the field. He gives, and he takes away. You can live with it now, as the projected 5th receiver – but that drop could also lead the Ravens to taking another look at the FA market (and impending cuts).
7) Hauschka nailed down the job tonight. He will get several weeks to prove himself, and settle in.
8) Big-game for Riley, speed kills. Numbers do not add up for him here in Baltimore, but that was nice tape to show other teams.
9) Walker is being keyed on by the opposition. He is a bigger corner, and the Ravens secondary is small. While I think he could have/ could still help against the run, and against bigger opposing receivers; he is playing himself off the roster.
9a) Oglesby had the big hit earlier, and now an INT… he came to play tonight.
10) Sandusky and White are correct, Kruger is moving around well as a LB. The fact that he is showing he can already drop-back and play in space at this point in his career is impressive.
11) Webb had the fumble, but he is a big-time physical talent that can help.
