Looking forward to seeing Bergesen come up to the O’s, and I do believe he can help the O’s in 2009.
Ultimately though, I believe his future with the O’s (as early as 2010) is likely not in the Oriole rotation, but a useful arm for long-relief.
Still, Bergesen has a large opportunity in-front of him during this 2009 season, and it will be fun following his growth month-to-month.

2008 AA: 3.22 era, 148 innings, 143 hits, 53 er, 11 homers, 27 walks, 72 k’s
2009 AAA: 2.45 era, 11 innings, 6 hits, 3 er, 3 walks, 9 k’s
The chances of any Minor League prospect breaking through and finding Major League success is fairly slim… and made slimmer if you do not have the stuff to get a K per IP… so, in limited sample-size or not – it is encouraging to see his K-rate having improved so far at the AAA level.
While his stuff is usually described as fringe, a guy at Bergesen’s age (turns 24 in September) that pitched basically 150 innings at the AA level, and allowed less than a hit per IP, with only 27 walks – is a prospect.
