Things are looking up for the CB’s of the Baltimore Ravens. Fabian Washington is starting the exhibition against the Redskins tonight, and Coach Harbaugh stated this week that Webb is close to coming off the Physically Unable to Perform list.
With Washington, Webb, and Chris Carr at their Nickleback the Ravens have reasonable answers at the position. Still, if the Ravens want to give that group some depth; they have the excess at other positions to make a trade.
One potential trade target in my-mind is Leodis McKelvin of the Buffalo Bills. The 2008 1st round pick is currently listed as a Nickleback for the Bills.
There are a number of Ravens players the Bills could use. The starting Buffalo defensive line is
Buffalo is in need of further help on the defensive line. Their starters are Marcus Stroud, Kyle Williams, and former Raven Dwan Edwards. Someone like Talavou could help there. I am not suggesting McKelvin straight-up for Talavou, just saying that Talavou could be part of the package.
The Bills are counting on Ellicott City native Aaron Maybin to provide some pass rush at the ROLB. I have to believe that Antwan Barnes would push Buffalo’s starting LOLB Chris Kelsay. Buffalo is set at RILB with Paul Poslusny, but one of Gooden / McClain / Ellerbe could give Andra Davis and Kawika Mitchell a battle at LILB.
Buffalo knows that Lee Evans will be one of their starting WR’s, with the other position in some question. They have some options with Roscoe Parrish, Chad Jackson, and Steve Johnson – but no definitive answers. I would not call Mark Clayton a definitive answer, but he certainly would have the chance to start opposite of Evans.
McKelvin has good return skills, and speed. At 5’10, 184 lbs he has ok size. At 24 years-old, he could be a help to the Secondary for several years. The fact that the Bills are planning on using him as their Nickel, indicates there are some issues they see with him as a starter. Which would be ok if you are Baltimore, and the idea is only to improve your depth and Nickel/Dime coverage.
