With the promotion of David Hernandez to the active O’s roster today, the Orioles sent Ray to AAA Norfolk as the corresponding roster move.
I had hoped that the Birds would have just released Walker out-right, but the move made was understandable.
Ray himself said he needed to be pitching more often to get his mechanics back.
Ray 2006 – 61 games, 66 ip, 45 hits, 10 homers, 27 bb’s, 51 k’s, 33 saves, 4-4, 2.73 era
Ray 2007 – 43 games, 42.2 ip, 35 hits, 5 homers, 18 bb’s, 44 k’s, 16 saves, 5-6, 4.43 era
Ray 2009 – 17 games, 15.1 ip, 24 hits, 2 homers, 11 bb’s, 17 k’s, 0 saves, 0-1, 9.39 era
Do not focus on the era… look at his hits per IP, and his walk-rate compared to this previous years.
His stuff is still there, but his control is not. Discussions on his era in 15.1 are basically point-less… let him go back to AAA, get some innings in, and return.
