On July 31st, I wrote a blog titled ‘Show me something!’, which can be found here:

What I was writing about, was the need for the O’s young core to produce some results during the remaining two months of the season.
About Felix Pie, I wrote the following:
“Like many of his Oriole teammates, Pie has done nothing offensively during the 2nd-half. (10 for 52, .192 average, .482 OPS) Pie is getting the opportunity to play everyday, and he needs to take advantage of that these last two months. He has to produce both offensively, and defensively over these last 59 games, or risk being replaced as the starter prior to 2011.”
His HR, Double, and 3 rbi last night were just the latest in a torrid of production from Pie since August 1st. In August Pie is now batting .361 (13 for 36), with 2 homers, 1 triple, 2 doubles, 8 rbi, and two steals. His 1.000 OPS for the month has raised his cumulative OPS from .705 on 7/31 to .787 as of today.
He is also clearly getting more comfortable in LF, as he is taking better angles on balls and running them down. One curiosity in his numbers for the month is that he has 0 walks, and 0 k’s.
