Not exactly shocking that Pie would show signs of life at some point this year… that is what happens when 24 year-old players who have had strong success at the AA, and AAA levels, become a bit more comfortable in their current Major League environment.
Having gone 5 for his last 10, with a homer, double, and 3 walks… Pie has raised his OPS to .631, his average to .209, and his slugging to .329.
All of those numbers would be unacceptable if that is where he ends… but right now, in mid-May, he has a chance to build.
When Scott, and Jones work their way back into the lineup, Reimold could be sent back down… but I doubt it.
I think Reimold is here to stay, and will be starting everyday in LF.
With Pie out of options, I see Montanez going back to Norfolk. They keep Pie because he can backup CF as well.
The O’s will need to be committed to playing Pie 2-3 times a week in LF, and CF…
After 2009, if Huff is gone… and they have not traded Scott…. and they think Snyder needs time at AAA…. you could be looking at Reimold/Scott for DH and 1st… with Pie in LF.
