MASN’s Roch Kubatko reported earlier today that Tatum was optioned back to AAA Norfolk, to make room for Wieters off the DL.

If you read Tatum’s comments that he received from MacPhail, it is clear that Tatum’s time in Minors figures to be short. What that in-mind, I am not going to kill the O’s for this move.
That said, I am still puzzled about the need to carry 8 pitchers and limit yourself with a 3 man bench.
It is not as if it was not known when Wieters was coming off the DL. With that known date in-mind, the O’s should have been pushing harder to find a home for Ohman (San Francisco? http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/giants/detail?blogid=22&entry_id=68583) before Wieters came off the DL.
