The Ravens are on a 3 game losing streak. This week reminds me of some coaching memories back at West Point. It is about your team but sometimes it is more about the opponent. This week, the Ravens play a team that is not having an enjoyable season. A look at the Ravens first 6 games and performance analytics gives you a snapshot of all six games. They played “well enough to win” both last week against the Giants and three weeks ago against the Raiders. The analytics say that perhaps they really did not deserve to beat the Browns back in week 2. In this industry, at the end of the day, the scoreboard is all that matters.

How do the Jets look?
In a word…. BEATABLE. Interestingly, at the start of the season the schedule for the Ravens looked to get harder as the season progressed. As we sit right now – games against the Jets, Bengals and Steelers look promising. The Steelers and Bengals may have rosters that could turn a season around quickly but right now those teams have problems they need to get fixed. Until that happens, those teams are quite beatable too.

When the Jets don’t score points on a drive – they are the worst in the league in terms of what they accomplish on these drives in terms of yardage and drive result. And even worse for the Jets, they don’t score points very often. Ravens are probably very hopeful that Gino Smith starts and plays the entire game for the Jets. The Ravens look to win a road game and they may have just found the right opponent this week. This one looks VERY BEATABLE.
4-3 keeps the season alive in Baltimore. They had better win this game and get hot – somehow. They look straight toward three winnable games that will define their season. They had better find a way to go 1-0 this week. The Steelers and Browns await after the Jets. If they don’t sit at 6-3 in three weeks, this thing could spin out of control – as if three losses in a row has not already starting the spinning process.
