Josh Bell was 2 for 4 with a homer, and a double as Jake Arrieta improved to 3-1 for AAA Norfolk.
In Bell’s last 10 games, he has hit all 4 of his homers and has a .275 batting average, with a .951 OPS.
Arrieta struggled with his control (5 walks in 5 innings) but was again tough to hit, as he allowed just 2 hits, and 2 er (with 3 k’s). In his 36 innings of 2010 work, Arrieta has allowed just 6 er, and his holding opposing hitters to a .165 batting average against.
Julio Lugo might be hearing foot-steps as Robert Andino had 2 homers. Corey Patterson is now batting .344 (11 for 32) but it should be noted he has just 1 extra-base hit. If the O’s continue to use Montanez as a defensive-replacement for Reimold, they have to consider replacing Montanez with Patterson. Overall, my preference would be to keep Montanez though.
