“Asked if he looks back favorably on his time in Baltimore, Tejada said, “Always. I enjoyed being with the Orioles. I’m a free agent this year. You never know. I might be coming back.”
Like all players that have been tainted with Steroids (and that includes Roberts), I have some misgivings about Tejada.
That said, I certainly respected his effort, and the pride he played with.
In 2008, Tejada had a 728 OPS with Houston… batting 283 with 13 homers, 66 RBI, and 38 doubles… most reports were that his defense was improved over his 2007 year with the O’s… which was understandable, as the constant 2007 reports about his limited range were influenced by the poor leg he was playing on.
Tejada turns 35 in May… so for 2010, you are talking about a guy that will be 36 most of the year… the normal expectation, would be a further drop in his numbers this year.
If he can maintain his 2008 numbers, I would be fine with Tejada as 1 year upgrade at SS over Izturis for the 2010 season…
