An interesting move for the Orioles, MacPhail moves Randor Bierd to the Red Sox for Pitcher David Pauley.

It is mentioned that he is currently out of options, which leads me to believe he will be given every opportunity to make the team.
Pauley turns 26 in June, so he was a bit old for AAA in 2008, but he did perform.
2008 AAA age 25 – 14-4, 3.55 ERA, 147 innings, 147 hits, 103 k’s, 41 walks
I like this move for the O’s.. Pauley has pitched at least 147 innings 4 times in the Minors.. Bierd turns 25 in March, and has never pitched more than 45 innings in a year.
I did not project Bierd to make the O’s staff, and Pauley will have a chance to compete for the 5th starter role, or as a guy that can give extended innings out of the pen.
