After seeing his ERA balloon to 5.79 on June 24th, Matt Albers has been strong in his last 6 appearances including his 3 innings of scoreless ball last-night.

In those 6 outings, Albers has pitched 11 innings, allowing 2 er, 6 hits, 5 walks, with 7 k’s. This had reduced his ERA to 4.74 overall.

Opposing hitters have a .744 OPS against him, and Albers has a Grounder to Flyball Ratio of 1.54.

In 2008, Albers was exceptional against Left-handed batters, holding them to a .163 batting average, and a .475 OPS over 87 at-bats. That is not the case in 2010, as lefties have raked over Albers in 61 at-bats for a .957 OPS.

Albers has been good against righties, limiting them to a .223 average, and .618 OPS over 103 at-bats.

The competition for spots in the Oriole bullpen is growing, and for Albers to be in the mix next-Spring; he needs some extended success during the 2nd-half.
