Brian Matusz improved to 3-2 on the season, as the Frederick Keys beat Lynchburg.
Matusz went 7 innings, allowing 4 hits, 3er, 1 bb, with 9 k’s.
This brings his era to 3.09 for the year.
He has now pitched 46.2 innings, allowed 42 hits, 17 bb’s and has 60 k’s.
Matusz has accomplished the goal of getting his feet wet as a professional.
I believe he should now be moved to Bowie, and allowed to spend June, July, and August there.
That would give him 3 months of Double A action, and position the O’s to send Matusz to AAA Norfolk to start the 2010 season.
Based on how the O’s have handled Wieters this year, you can expect the O’s to handle Matusz somewhat similarly next spring.
