The 4th and final exhibition game for the Baltimore Ravens has kicked-off in St. Louis, which has me thinking about the final 53 man roster.
Here is the final team I would carry:
Quarterback: Flacco, Bulger (2)
RB: Rice, McGahee, Parmele (3)
FB: McClain (1)
WR: Boldin, Mason, Clayton, Reed, Williams (5)
TE: Heap, Dickson, Pitta (3)
O-Line: Oher, Grubbs, Birk, Yanda, Gaither, Chester, Harewood, Cousins, Moll (9)
D-Line: Ngata, Pryce, Gregg, Redding, Cody, Talavou, Kruger, Jones (8)
LB: Lewis, Johnson, Suggs, Ellerbe, Gooden, McClain, Barnes, Phillips (8)
CB: Washington, Webb, Wilson, Carr, Williams, Fisher (6)
Safety: Reed, Landry, Zbikowski, Nakamura, Hamlin (5)
ST: Cundiff, Cox, Koch (3)
1) I would attempt to trade T. Smith, but would expect to have to release him.
2) I think the Ravens may keep M. Smith over D. Williams due to his ability to help on Special Teams. I would prefer to keep Williams because I think he is the more capable receiver.
3) I would IR Stallworth as opposed to carrying him on the roster. I just don’t see the sense in carrying him on the roster through half the season, expecting him to contribute during the 2nd-half of the year. If the Ravens feel they want to try and carry him, I would think he would replace Hamlin or Fisher.
4) Ed Reed has told the team he wants to play, and not be placed on the PUP list. If the Ravens face a roster decision they don’t want to make, look for them to take the conservative route and tell Reed to take the next 6 weeks off.
