The 2024 NFL season begins in under 100 days as the Baltimore Ravens will be traveling to face the Chiefs in Kansas City September 5th.
With training camps opening across the NFL in about 6 weeks, we’re giving overview thoughts on each NFL team starting with the NFC East.

Quick Hits
Cowboys – DC Dan Quinn is now HC Dan Quinn for the Commanders. Quinn’s replacement is Mike Zimmer. Bigger question than the Coordinator change is the Defensive talent Zimmer has to work with. Is there enough? Offensively there are questions at RB, the WR’s not named CeeDee Lamb, and the Offensive Line. Add a first place schedule, and the Dax Prescott contract situation; and I think you have to anticipate some regression from last year. There is high end talent on the roster (Lamb, Prescott, Micah Parsons); I’m not sure there is a lot of quality depth here. Things look better for Dallas if 1st round pick OT Tyler Guyton, and 3rd round pick OG Cooper Beebe are able to contribute immediately.
Eagles – Philadelphia entered ’23 as the defending NFC Champion, and then began the ’23 season 10-1. It was clear there were issues though, and it wasn’t the same team as the year prior. They had lost both of their Coordinators. They didn’t have the pass rush they had the year prior, and Jalen Hurts was productive but not the MVP caliber player he was in ’23. This year, the Eagles again have two new Coordinators. (Vic Fangio on Defense, and Kellen Moore on Offense.) Jason Kelce retired, and they traded Hasson Reddick. The Secondary is great. The Skill Position talent (Saquon Barkley a fantastic compliment to what they had in-place) is great. Both lines are in good shape. This team absolutely can get to the Super Bowl.
Giants – 2022 was a feel good year for the Giants. ’23 was a disaster. After an off-season extension Daniel Jones was limited to 6 games, where he threw just 2 TD’s in ’23. Jones played 16 games in ’22. If New York is going to have any hopes of rebounding in ’24, he has to stay on the field. If he stays available, is a near league-average QB, and you couple that with their extremely talented D-Line, a .500 ish season (stupid 17 games) is within reach. Devin Singletary will give them something on the ground. He’s not as talented as Barkley, but he’s played 66 games the last 4 years. 1st round pick (and the 6th selection overall) Malik Nabers should rack up the targets.
Commanders – Washington lost their last 8 games of the ’23 season, and I venture most Commanders fans didn’t care, as they were still basking in the glow of Daniel Snyder no longer being the Owner of the franchise. As mentioned, Quinn is now the Washington HC. ’23 Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels is now the Washington QB after being selected 2nd overall. Daniels has some weapons (Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, Brian Robinson, Austin Ekeler); but is he going to have any time to throw? By all accounts the Commanders O-Line is going to be a liability. Sam Howell did throw for nearly 4,000 yards last year, so poor O-line or not, would expect the offense to have some success. Howell also had 21 picks. If Daniels can avoid the turnovers, and Quinn has the defense more stout – 7 or 8 wins is possible, but they still look multiple drafts and free agent cycles away from being able to compete for a division title.
