Not enough talk about these two in my opinion. They had rough 2008 seasons… oh-well, that happens… they also showed some flashes, and gained experience… I think people have gone too far to the other-side, writing them off, as if there is no upside there. I look for both to help us in 2009.

O’s should make Liz and Olson highlight videos of these starts… reminding them they did have competetive outings in the Majors during 2008… mix-in video of their dominating outings in AA and AAA over the past year… I still think both can really help the O’s in 2009… I see Olson as a guy that can be a successful back-end starter… if he trusts his own stuff….. if he trusts his stuff, his fastball command will get back to what it was in the minors…

In 2009, Liz should get every opportunity to make, and stay in the rotation.

2006 Frederick – 83 ip, 57 hits, 95 k’s, 44 walks
2007 Bowie – 137 ip, 101 hits, 161 k’s, 70 walks
2008 Norfolk – 87 ip, 77 hits, 85 k’s, 32 walks

Each level his walks, and maintaining his control has been an issue… but also less than a hit per IP, and huge k-rate… At a minimum, he should eventually excell out of the pen… but for a guy turning 26 next June, there is still a chance he could be a successful ML Starter… Baseball America ranked him as the 69th best prospect coming into 2008… do not want to see the O’s give up on him to early.
