The Baltimore Orioles will enter Oakland at 24-30, and having lost their last two.
The O’s are 8-17 on the road.
The Athletics have won their last two games in Chicago, with one more to play today.
Overall, the A’s are 21-30 with an 11-13 record at home.
The scheduled starters are:
6/5 Guthrie vs Braden
6/6 Berken vs Cahill
6/7 Hill vs Mazzaro
Dallas Braden turns 26 in August. He is 4-5, with a 3.63 era. The former relief pitcher has pitched 67 innings already in 2009, after pitching 72.1, and 71.2 innings the previous two seasons.
In his 67 innings of work this year, he has allowed 75 hits, 20 bb’s, with 43 k’s.
Trevor Cahill just turned 21 in March. The young righty is 2-5, with a 4.33 era.
In 60.1 innings, he has allowed 61 hits, 9 homers, 26 bb’s, with just 27 k’s.
Vin Mazzaro made his Major League debut on Tuesday and earned the win.
Mazzaro went 6.1 scoreless innings, allowing 3 hits, and 4 walks.
Oakland has a couple of veteran bats that could hurt you; Holliday, Giambi, Cust, Kennedy… but the A’s are ravaged by injuries right now. The O’s need to win at least 2 of these 3 games and earn a West Coast split.
