The New England Patriots resigned their star Defensive Tackle Vince Wilfork yesterday, with a five-year deal reportedly worth $40 million, with $25 million in guaranteed money, including a $18 million signing bonus.
With that contract signed, will the Ravens now actively attempt to extend Ngata long-term?
Wilfork was born 11/4/81. Ngata was born 1/21/84. Does that two-plus year difference (plus Ngata’s superior athleticism) alter the numbers at-all?
It will be interesting to see how the Ravens Front-office handles this. Clearly the lack of a salary-cap, and the potential of a 2011 work-stoppage are other factors to consider.
Worst comes to worst, I am sure the the organization would just Franchise Ngata after next-season, but getting a deal done seems like the best option for all sides.
