The Baltimore Orioles traded Aubrey Huff to the Detroit Tigers today for Pitcher Brett Jacobson.
My initial thoughts are highly in-favor of the move. Huff was rightfully not going to be offered arbitration by the O’s, so getting a prospect that was considered one of the Tigers 10 best was excellent.
It will be an outstanding move if the money saved by moving Huff, will allow the O’s to sign their 2nd round draft-pick Mychal Givens.
Jacobson was ranked the Tigers Number 3 overall prospect by John Sickles this past January:

Jacobson, who will turn 23 in November, has been assigned to Frederick.
The 6’6 righty had appeared in 35 games this year for Lakeland in the Florida State League.
In those 35 games, Jacobson had pitched 55.1 innings, allowed 51 hits, 6 homers, 17 bb’s, with 44 k’s.
His splits indicate he was lit-up a bit by lefties, but was overwhelming fellow righties.
Selected in the 4th round of the 2008 draft, Jacobson will have an opportunity to move quickly in the organization.
