Strengths:
-Hard hitter and capable tackler
-Excellent in run support
-Physical presence
Weaknesses:
-Pass coverage liability
-Overly aggressive at times
-Gave up too many Big plays
Reid had a fantastic sophomore season in 2011 as a part of an incredibly talented secondary that featured Morris Claiborne, Tyrann Mathieu, and Brandon Taylor. As a result expectations were high in 2012 as he was seen by some as having top-fifteen potential in the NFL Draft.
Needless to say his inconsistent junior campaign has hindered his draft stock. With his former secondary mates gone Reid was asked to do more and was perhaps exposed in the process. He repeatedly had trouble in coverage and had a propensity to get burned for big yardage.
Reid totaled 91 tackles, seven passes broken up, two interceptions and zero forced fumbles in 2012. He would have value and perhaps be better suited as a Strong safety for now until he improves his pass coverage skills. As a result I don’t think that Reid projects as a fit for Baltimore with Bernard Pollard entrenched as the starter and Ed Reed possibly leaving.
