Schmuck with good information today, that Trembley is getting a bit concerned about Hill being able to be ready for the season….
Kind of an expected reaction when you are the manager, and you are asked about Player X’s status everyday.
Here is what we know… Hill has no structural damage… Spencer Fordin of MLB.com, reports Hill is making progress and could pitch off a mound by the middle of next week.
When the starters are still going just 3-4 innings per day, I have to think Hill can catch-up.
After all, this is a guy that logged 195 Major League innings in 2007… with that recent history, he should be able to be ready quickly.
If it gets to a point where he is not able to be ready for the season… then the O’s will DL him, allowing him some additional time to rehab and build-up.
The Major League team would not have to worry about adding an additional arm… Hendrickson would likely join the rotation, and Walker would start the year in the bullpen.
If the team believes Walker is done, and Hill is injured…. Maybe Eaton, or Baez would gain a couple of April starts until Hill returns, with Hendrickson staying in the pen.
