Last night the University of Maryland was overwhelmed by a talented Alabama team, and had a horrible shooting performance. 24 hours later, the Terps played with far more energy, shot much better, and were able beat Colorado.

With the 77-71 win, Maryland adds a quality neutral-court victory over a Pac-12 team to their resume.

The Good:

1) Stoglin came out immediately hitting a jumper, looking to shake off yesterday. Several plays later he followed that up with a nice driving lay-up. Stoglin would break-up Colorado’s 19-2 run in the middle of the 1st half with a 3. Starting the 2nd half, he went right to the basket, drawing a foul to get to the line. The Terps needed his scoring, and he started to come on as he aggressively looked for his shot. He had to go to bench for several minutes after picking up his 4th foul. When he came back, he buried back to back 3’s, followed by a lay-up to give MD a 67-6o lead. The Sophomore finished with a career high 32 points. He was 4 of 7 from 3 point land, and had 4 boards, and 2 assists.

2) Loving everything we have seen from Pankey in these first three games. He works hard, he runs well. He goes after rebounds, he uses length and gets his hands up, and he has shown better offensive skills than was previously advertised. He finished with 7 boards before fouling out.

3) Weijs capped an 8-0 MD run, throwing down a nice lob from Stoglin. Weijs had a good play late in the 2nd half to retain possession.

4) Parker hit an early jumper, and had an excellent layup when he put the ball on the floor and drove hard to the basket. Parker had 8 points, 5 boards, 2 assists, and 2 steals.

5) Mosley hit a couple of open 3’s in the 1st half from roughly the same point on the court. He then had an excellent pump fake, drawing three free foul shots. In the 2nd half, he hit a 3rd three coming off a strong pick from Pankey at the top of the key. He followed that with another 3 right after that to close the game to 51-50 Colorado. Mosley finished with 16 points, and 7 boards.

6) Faust banked home an important 3 with about a minute left in the 1st. With his legs under him, Faust looked confident knocking down a jumper in the 2nd half. With Stoglin out of the game, Faust had another important hoop going to the basket. He hit his third 3 of the game, pulling MD to within one at 60-59. Faust finished with 15 points, 6 boards, and 2 assists.

7) Following a Stoglin miss, Padgett did a suberb job fighting for the basketball, going up strong, and converting the basket while being fouled. He had 6 boards.

8) Maryland was 11 of 21 from 3 point land.

9) The Terps shot 49% from the field (27 of 55).

10) The Terps won on the boards 37-29.

11) Maryland out-scored Colorado by 15 in the 2nd half.

12) Only 8 turnovers for Maryland tonight.

The Bad:

1) With MD up 10-7, Faust had an open look at the top of the key. He declined to take the 3, and went to the rim and was stripped.

2) After being up 10-5, MD allowed a 19-2 run to fall behind 24-12 with about 8 minutes left in the 1st half.

3) The Terps had a number of sloppy passes from the post out to the top of the key, which were stipped and allowed for easy transition baskets for Colorado.

4) For the 3rd straight game, Parker had an ugly 3, this time missing everything.

5) Stoglin attempted to take a charge, standing in the lane’s semi-circle which is an automatic blocking foul. In another example of not being aware of the game situation, Stoglin picked up his 4th foul with about 11:30 left in the game, about 25 ft away from the basket.

6) Down 58-56, Faust missed the front-end of a 1 and 1, and Parker missed two FT’s. Faust was just 4 of 8 from the foul-line, while Parker was 0 for 4. The Terps made only 13 of their 24 attempts.

7) Dave Tucker from the high quality site Testudo Times, pointed out that Faust went up for an unnessary dunk as time was expiring, risking injury.

The Ugly:

None. The Terps rebounded from yesterday, and did a lot of things well tonight.
