Baltimore Orioles Baseball

The Orioles fall to 1-7, with a 8-6 extra-inning loss to Tampa tonight. For the 3rd time in a week, Baltimore has dropped a game they should have won. You have to feel for Matusz, who was outstanding during his first 7 innings. I've done my share of defending of...

Troy Patton is began his 2nd-season after his labrum-injry, with the start today for AAA Norfolk. In 5.1 innings, Patton allowed 3 er, 2 hits, 3 bb's, with 5 k's. I feel as if a lot of people have prematurely written Patton off. I guess it is somewhat understandable....

The O's ended a disappointing first-week, with a brutal 3 game sweep from Toronto. The Orioles needed to step-up and perform today, and at-least salvage one game against the Jays. I said prior to the game that I expected Millwood to do just that today, and give the...

Matt Hobgood, the 2009 1st-round Draft pick of the Baltimore Orioles, made his full-season debut for the Low A Delmarva Shorebirds last-night. Hobgood went 4 innings, allowed 3 hits, 3 er, 5 bb's, and 4 k's. Nobody likes seeing the 5 walks, but let us all remember...

At one-point last night's Bowie Baysox starter Chorye Spoone was considered one of the jewels of the Oriole system. In 2007, Spoone had spent the entire year at Single A Frederick going 10-9, with a 3.26 era. He had pitched 152 innings, allowed just 108 hits, had 67...

Brandon Snyder and Josh Bell both got going at AAA Norfolk last-night, as they contributed to the 12-3 Tides win. Each player finished 3 for 4 with a double. Bell had 1 RBI, while Snyder had 3. Mickolio went another 1.1 scoreless, though he did have 2 walks. Sarfate...

Kevin Millwood was brought to Baltimore to provide innings, and stability to the rotation. To lead by example, and give the O's young-pitchers a veteran they can emulate. Today is a day I expect big things from Millwood. The rotation has gone 1 time through, and they...

The O's needed to take 2 of 3 from Toronto at-home, and should have been positioned for a possible sweep today. It did not happen, as a right-handed based lineup was totally overwhelmed by lefty Dana Eveland. As I stated in the series-preview, Eveland had success with...
