Will the O’s pursue Bedard or Harden?
Assuming that Lackey is just going to be too expensive for the O's to go after, do you envision the O's going after Bedard or Harden? If you do, what is the max-contract you would offer either? Bedard turned 30 in March. In 2008, and 2009, Bedard made 15 starts...
I can be talked into Bell and Snyder
When the World Series ends, and the off-season truly begins, the preparations for the 2010 season will be in full-swing. During the past couple of months, I have argued with myself several-times about the merits of 1st, and 3rd base for the Orioles being handed to...
Two hires I would like the Orioles to make
I would like to see The Orioles hire B.J. Surhoff as their Bench Coach, and Rick Sutcliffe as a roving Minor League Instructor. My reasoning for wanting them to rejoin the organization, has less to do with them being former Orioles, vs. the type of players they proved...
Snyder and Bell off to good starts in Arizona
Brandon Snyder and Josh Bell only have 37 combined at-bats in the Arizona Fall League, so you can only read so much into their numbers. A limited sample-size, is a limited sample-size after-all. That said, they are both producing, and that beats the alternative. In...
Local Media on the 2010 Baltimore Orioles
ABC has a new show titled ‘Flash Forward’, where the basic-premise is that everyone on Earth passes-out at exactly the same-time, and sees a glimpse of their future 6 months from now.Recently, I asked members of the local-media that follow the Baltimore Orioles, to...
I agree with the decision to retain Trembley
Last week I argued that Trembley should be retained, unless the organization was prepared to hire a veteran manager who had experienced past-success. http://baltimoresportsandlife.blogspot.com/2009/09/orioles-should-bring-back-trembley.htmlTonight, it has been...
Uehara for 2010 closer
One move I want to see almost immediately after this season ends, is the announcement that Uehara will be inserted as the 2010 closer. I know that a basic tenant of Andy MacPhail's overall philosophy is that you do not make moves until you absolutely have to, but I...
Most disappointing part of the 2009 O’s season
The most disappointing part of the 2009 O's season, is not this pathetic losing-streak to end the year; but playing September ball without their full roster. There is no way that the Birds go through this type of complete collapse if Jones, Reimold, Bergesen, Mickolio,...
