Tillman and Matusz step-forward over the weekend
For the Baltimore Orioles, the 2009 season has always been about gaining experience for the players that can help you going forward. Watching Chris Tillman, and Brian Matusz step-forward, and make the most of that opportunity this weekend, is something every Oriole...
Cesar Izturis is not a long-term answer
As the 2009 season winds down, there is more and more talk about Cesar Izturis being a possible long-term answer at SS. It is my opinion that he is not. There is no doubt that he has been a huge improvement over the abysmal options that were the O's SS in 2008. The...
A few more questions with Mr. Dave Stockstill of The Baltimore Orioles
In February, the Orioles Player Development Director Dave Stockstill spoke with Baltimore Sports and Life, in a preview of the 2009 season. As the 2009 Minor League season comes to an end, Mr. Stockstill has graciously returned for a second-interview.Baltimore Sports...
O’s lose game they had no business losing
The Baltimore Orioles lost their 2nd game in Minnesota last night, in a game they had no business losing. The O's took an early 3-0 lead, and were able to quickly knock the Twins starter Gambino out of his Major League debut. Matusz labored through 5 innings, allowing...

Arrieta putting a strong finish on AAA season
Jake Arrieta worked 7 scoreless innings for AAA Norfolk last night. Arrieta allowed just 2 hits, 2 walks, and struck-out 6. It was Arrieta's 4th straight outing of at-least 6 innings. In that time, Arrieta has worked 26 innings, allowed 20 hits, 5 er, 6 walks, with 23...
Tillman very solid in 2-1 loss
Chris Tillman took the 2-1 loss in Minnesota tonight, but again looked very solid. Tillman battled his way through 5.1 innings, allowing 6 hits, the 2er, 3 bb's (one intentional), with 1 k. While he only threw 60 strikes in his 102 pitches, I thought Tillman did a...
Another look at Felix Pie
Felix Pie stepped in for Adam Jones yesterday, and had his 4th homer of the year. His average now stands at .259, and he has a .718 OPS.I think there is a limitation to the things you definitively know about Pie.You know that:1) He had pretty strong numbers in the PCL...
